‘Terminator Genisys’ and ‘Magic Mike XXL’ were two sequels that made disappointing debuts over the holiday weekend, similar to ‘Ted 2’ in its debut the week before. Former body builder turned actor turned governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to the silver screen staring alongside Emilia Clarke of ‘Game of Thrones’ in the newest addition to the ‘Terminator’ series. Viacom’s Paramount Pictures will have to rely on international sales in order to break even on its $155 million investment in ‘Terminator Genisys’ after the movie grossed just $29 million on its opening weekend. The newest ‘Magic Mike’ grossed shy of $12 million of the July 4th weekend compared to the $39 million that the original move made on its opening weekend in June of 2012. However, one sequel that has proven to do better in box offices than its original is ‘Jurassic World,’ which has been the number one selling movie in box offices for the fourth week in a row.
