Josh Kushner may face subpoenas as UEFA weighs criminal case against FIFA boss Gianni Infantino

Josh Kushner is being targeted for subpoenas by European soccer bosses seeking evidence from the New York venture capitalist for a potential criminal case in Switzerland against embattled FIFA President Gianni Infantino, according to a bombshell court filing Thursday.

UEFA asked a Manhattan federal judge for permission to force Kushner and his venture capital firm, Thrive Capital, to turn over documents and sit for depositions about the spectacular collapse of Infantino’s $20 billion plan to spin off FIFA’s commercial assets.

The 56-page filing alleges Kushner, the brother of President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, was part of a small circle that secretly developed the controversial proposal, known as FIFA Forward Enterprise.

That plan would have raised roughly $4.2 billion from outside investors in exchange for a permanent stake in the commercial arm housing rights tied to the men’s and women’s World Cups and Club World Cups.

UEFA said it is contemplating bringing a criminal proceeding in Switzerland against Infantino and possibly other FIFA officials for criminal mismanagement.

The explosive allegations have not been proven, and UEFA’s filing does not mean Kushner or Thrive has been accused of a crime.

The application identifies them as potential sources of evidence for the contemplated Swiss case.

The Post has sought comment from Thrive and Kushner.

The filing alleges Kushner and Infantino discussed the underlying concept for nearly a year before the terms sheet was signed.

It claims the roots of the proposal stretch back to July 2025, when Kushner approached former Liberty Media boss Greg Maffei at the Allen & Company conference in Sun Valley, Idaho.

“Look, we’ve been thinking about this with FIFA and we know of your experience with [Formula 1],” Kushner told Maffei, according to an account cited in UEFA’s filing.

Kushner ultimately landed on both sides of the proposed transaction, according to UEFA.

He participated in early discussions about the concept while Thrive Eternal, his permanent-capital investment vehicle, later emerged as the expected leader of the investor group.

Maffei, meanwhile, became Infantino’s “key commercial adviser” on the proposed deal, according to the filing.

The Post has sought comment from FIFA and Maffei.

UEFA claims that arrangement was part of a deeply flawed process in which FIFA’s own governing bodies and senior executives were kept in the dark while Infantino and a tight group of advisers developed the proposal.

The plan finally burst into public view on July 28, when Infantino unveiled a new FIFA-controlled commercial subsidiary that aimed to raise about $4.2 billion from investors.

The transaction implied a valuation of roughly $20 billion.

But FIFA’s bankers and dealmakers badly misread the mood in global soccer.

As The Post previously reported, the proposal sparked an immediate revolt, with all 55 UEFA member nations rejecting it and threatening to sit out FIFA competitions unless the deal was scrapped.

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, or CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation also opposed the process while the backlash spread inside Infantino’s own organization.

Kushner recently made headlines for teaming up with ex-Disney boss Bob Iger to lead a group of investors that is set to purchase the Los Angeles Lakers for more than $12 billion.
