TheStreet spoke with Israel’s former Prime Minister Ehud Barak on the U.S. exit from the Iran deal, the recent wave of tensions between Israel and Iran and how to achieve peace in the Middle East.
“Peace is something we have to be patient about,” he said. “But never lose sight of the objective or hope. Peace will be achieved in this region only when our neighbors will realize that there is no way to get rid of Israel.”
As for the U.S. exit of the Iran deal, Barak said it makes denuclearization negotiations with North Korea “harder.”
“It weakens somehow the leverage of America,” he said.
Ehud Barak was Prime Minister from 1999 to 2001 and is author of the new book My Country, My Life: Fighting for Israel, Searching for Peace.
