Intel’s chips most likely power something that you own. The chipmaker powers everything from high end servers to tablets and smartphones. So, what’s the next frontier? Well, Intel’s President Renee James believes it may be wearables. James says, ‘wearables is the other half of IoT (internet of things.) It’s the consumer side. The possibilities are kind of endless right now.’ While wearables may be the future, the cloud and cloud computing and storage, are now. James says, ‘cloud growth is a tremendous part of our business…right now is the greatest demand for more and more performance that I have seen in my career.’ But, despite climbing through the ranks at Intel to become president of the chip giant in 2013 and one of the most powerful women in tech, James says that even at CES, she’s still ‘pretty anonymous’ when she walks around the showroom floor. TheStreet’s Ruben Ramirez has details from Las Vegas.
