President & CEO of The International Medical Corps, Nancy Aossey, says that the damage done by the earthquake in Nepal is unquantifiable. With thousands dead and millions of people affected, getting aid to those who need it is a daunting task. Scaling the response to meet needs on the ground is critical explains Aossey, and social media companies like Facebook (FB) are providing help. The International Medical Corps has partnered with Facebook, allowing users to donate directly to the relief effort. ‘It’s really important to connect people to something that they feel they can do’ says Aossey. She explains how effective use of social media has been a key breakthrough for disaster relief. TheStreet’s Rhonda Schaffler has the details from the Milken Global Conference in Los Angeles.
