More than 25% of people don’t think $100,000 is enough

How much would you need to make to feel financially secure?
Well, almost half of Americans would like a 6-figure salary.
According to a new survey from Bankrate, 45% of people think they would need to make $100,000 or more a year to “feel financially secure” or “comfortable.”
This includes 16 percent who say they would need to make $200,000 or more, and 8 percent say they would need to make $500,000 or more.
How does that stack up to what they’re actually making? The average full-time, year-round worker made $81,515 in 2023, according to the latest estimates from the BLS.
Financial comfort clearly means something different to everyone but one thing people can agree on is that the majority of US Adults – 56 percent – say they need more than they’re currently earning to feel financially secure/comfortable.
As for what would make them feel rich? More than 1 in 4 Americans say they would need to make at least $1 million per year to feel financially free.
