Not too many girls were asking for Barbies this holiday season. For the fourth quarter, Barbie-maker Mattel posted an adjusted profit of 52 cents a share on revenue of $1.99 billion. That was below the 91 cents a share on revenue of $2.1 billion that analysts predicted. Mattel’s fourth-quarter earnings release also drilling down into the details of a weak performance that led to the resignation of its chairman and CEO, Bryan Stockton. Barbie sales fell 12%, though that was only half as bad as the third quarter. Fisher-Price sales fell 11%. While American Girl slipped 4%. One bright spot though, Hot Wheels – its sales rose 5%.
