GM Building adds new Savoy Club wellness center for tech-loving tenants
ShareShareShareShareShare

The storied GM Building at 767 Fifth Avenue wants to make sure its tech-loving tenants are fit, too.

On the second floor of the tower that’s home to the famous Apple Cube, a new, 35,000 square-foot, second-floor amenities center named Savoy Club comes with an 18,000 square-foot Wellness at Savoy Club, boasting such features as a spin studio, yoga room, gym with cardio equipment and luxurious locker rooms and grooming stations.

It’s part of majority owner BXP’s (formerly Boston Properties) campaign to make the nearly two-million square foot tower at Fifth Avenue and East 59th Street even more competitive — and hip — in what’s possibly the slowest office-leasing season in the city’s history.

BXP’s New York region executive vice-president Hilary Spann said that in the challenging market, “Access to wellness resources is just as important as other job factors like compensation, location and amenities.”

Not that GM is hurting: it’s 93% leased to high-profile tenants including Grosvenor, PWP, Weil Gotshal and Baron Capital.

The Savoy Club also includes a new cafe with La Colombe coffee products, artisanal pastries and grab-and-go breakfast and lunch options, as well as a state of the art conference center.

The marble-clad, 1968-vintage tower’s Apple Cube was famously installed on the plaza when the building was owned by Harry Macklowe. Another former owner was identified on the facade by large gold letters spelling out TRUMP.
