Global markets are rallying and U.S. stocks will try to make it two higher weeks in a row. Apple (AAPL) wants the government to throw out the judge’s order to unlock an encrypted iPhone used by one of the San Bernadino killers. Apple filed its legal response one day before the filing deadline. In the brief provided by the company, Apple argues that the government’s request is ‘unprecedented’ and violates its First Amendment rights. Google (GOOG) and Microsoft (MSFT) are said to have filed supporting documents for Apple as well. Retailer J.C. Penney (JCP) reported a better than expected quarterly revenue. It says it was helped by strong sales at its home, Sephora, footwear and handbag divisions. 4th quarter GDP will be released. Personal Income and Spending for January are also reported. Also, 3 Federal Reserve officials will be speaking today.
