By using popular cash-back shopping websites like Ebates, Mr. Rebates or FatWallet, consumers can save an additional 1% to 30% when they make their online purchases, said Roger Ma, founder of Lifelaidout.com. And Ma said it’s easy to get started. ‘It really comes down to making a list of maybe the top 5 to 10 places that you shop at online and then looking at the merchant list on an Ebates, FatWallet, or Mr. Rebates to see if your store is included,’ he said. ‘Because not all merchants are included on every cash-back portal.’ The cash consumers receive is part of the referral fee received by the cash-back shopping companies when a customer uses the website for their purchase.
