Ford Motor (F) Americas President Joe Hinrichs said the automaker expected sales in November of Lincoln and other luxury names to be higher for the month. Hinrichs said, ‘The luxury industry was not quite as strong in November as we were expecting. Our sales of Lincoln kind of followed that pattern. If you look at it, we’re now expecting December to be a much stronger month for the premium industry.’ Overall, in November the automaker saw sales which were essentially flat from the same period a year ago, but sales of the F-150 continued to perform well. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend capped-off what had been a slow month for sales. ‘We saw tremendous strength in the sales as the month progressed and a very strong close to the month over Thanksgiving weekend. And, if you look at our transaction prices, they were very strong, so a very healthy business right now.’ One factor bringing buyers into showrooms are low gas prices which are putting more money into consumers’ pockets.
