European Markets continue their upward march with Germany’s DAX index pushing through 12,000 barrier for the first time. The optimism is due in part to continued quantitative easing by the European Central Bank and the weakness of the Euro, which should boost exports and inflation. There’s also optimism about Chinese stimulus measures. But Holcim’s late rejection of their $40 billion mega-merger between cement and building materials groups Holcim and Lafarge hits both companies’ shares and hurts their Irish peer CRH Group into the bargain. British online white goods seller AO World slips on Chairman’s share sale. Private equity backed used car auctioneer BCA Marketplace comes under the hammer and could end up sold to listed cash-shell Haversham.
