Richard Corbett, a Member of The European Parliament from the U.K. Labour Party, calls for a tougher code of conduct for EU legislators. Among other things, he suggests prohibiting MEPs from being on the payroll of lobby organizations actively lobbying the EU’s only democratically elected assembly on pending legislation — something missing from the code currently in place. As for the next steps, U.K. Labour MEPs will first adopt the rules for themselves, and then seek to put them to a vote to the entire Parliament.
