U.S. Gross Domestics Product numbers released today will tell us a lot about the economy and could determine whether the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates later this year or wait till 2016. Economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal expect 2.7% growth in the second quarter. Whole Foods (WFM) cut its sales forecast amid intensifying competition in the organic and natural food space. The grocer did say that sales were impacted by the results of an investigation in New York City that showed Whole Foods is overcharging for pre-packaged foods. Sony (SNE) gaming business is going strong. It’s gaming business quarterly operating income rose 351%. Sony’s second quarter profit climbed with a 39% increase in quarterly profit on strong sales of camera sensors and Playstation 4 videogames.
