Lifelock (LOCK) plummeted Tuesday following a brief trading halt. The Federal Trade Commission asserted the security company had violated a 2010 settlement by continuing to make deceptive claims on its identity theft protection services. Stocks ended the session firmly in the red. The Dow suffered the worst of the day’s losses, losing triple digits on disappointing earnings from IBM (IBM) and United Technologies (UTX). United Tech suffered its biggest daily decline in dollar value since the 9/11 terror attacks. The company had warned profit in its aerospace and elevator businesses would be lower than expected this year. Chesapeake Energy (CHK) bottomed out the S&P 500 after eliminating its dividend. The shale producer will save an approximate $240 million annually.
