The stock markets closed early on Wednesday for Christmas Eve but with gains. All the benchmarks closed in the green with the Dow Jones Industrial furthering its climb above 18,000. More Americans applied for mortgages last week. The Mortgage Bankers Association said both refinancing and purchase demand picked up as rates fell last week. Reuters is reporting Walmart (WMT) will adjust base salaries at nearly one third of its U.S. locations. This move comes ahead of minimum wage hikes in 2015 that will impact many of its 1,400 stores. Sony’s (SNE) much talked about comedy ‘The Interview’ can now be viewed from the comfort and safety of your home. The film is now available online on Google’s (GOOG) Play store and YouTube. The movie will also open on Christmas Day in select theaters.
