Rumors have been swirling around leading Greek yogurt maker Chobani in recent weeks. Some observers have speculated the company’s founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya is on his way out, set to be replaced by a more operationally oriented executive. The speculation on Ulukaya has surfaced because of yes, additional speculation on how Chobani is running it’s ever-growing Greek yogurt business. However, the rumors were put to bed by Chobani’s CMO Peter McGuiness in an interview with TheStreet’s Brian Sozzi. According to McGuinness, Chobani’s founder remains very involved in the day to day business, in particular around the development of new products. In effect, Ulukaya is seen as the lifeblood of the business, not unlike Steve Jobs was, and still is, at Apple. No changes are ‘imminent’ regarding Ulukaya’s position as CEO, says McGuinness. Sozzi and McGuinness discuss what Chobani is doing operationally to ensure it makes as much money off its Greek yogurt as possible, which has an enviable share of the U.S. Greek yogurt market.
