Players across the NFL knelt and linked arms in protest during the U.S. national anthem on Sunday.
The action came after Donald Trump took to Twitter TWTR to demand that owners fire players who protest during the national anthem
Despite, the increase in protests because of his comments, the President was not deterred and took to Twitter again Monday to state that “Many people booed the players who kneeled yesterday (which was a small percentage of total). These are fans who demand respect for our Flag!” and “The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for our Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this!”
Last year, NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem in protest against racial injustice.
However, several owners of NASCAR teams have threatened to fire individuals who protest during the national anthem.
