President Donald Trump has called for the “immediate resignation” of Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, the President said, “The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!”
Trump’s post stems from Tan’s involvement with several Chinese companies, as well as a past criminal case involving a company Tan previously helmed. And according to a Reuters report, Tan has invested in companies linked to China’s military.
Senator Tom Cotton wrote to Intel, saying Tan’s ties to these companies call into question the company’s “security and integrity of Intel’s operations and its potential impact on U.S. national security.”
The news also comes as Trump says he will impose at 100% tariff on chips made outside of the U.S.
Intel has not yet responded to Trump’s request.
