In a memo, the Department of Justice ordered New York prosecutors to drop federal bribery charges against Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City. Adams previously pleaded not guilty to the charges. NBC News’ Laura Jarrett reports DOJ officials said the prosecution interfered with Adams’ bid for reelection, and they left the door open to reviving the investigation at a later date.
