Copart, Hershey and Panera top this year’s list of the 100 most exceptional companies, said Michael Raynor, Principal at Deloitte Consulting. Raynor added that the rankings were based on performance in relation to the whole population of publicly traded companies and offer an alternate way of viewing companies from traditional lists like the Fortune 500. He said the methodology views companies from three separate criteria: Multidimensional, Relative vs. Absolute and Skill vs. Luck. Finally, Raynor said more than 80% of managers either overestimate or underestimate their company’s relative performance because they are measuring performance through a limited lens.
