Harvey announced on October 16, 2026 that law firm Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has adopted its platform across the firm’s Corporate & Finance, Litigation & Arbitration, and Regulatory/IP practice groups, the same day the firm unveiled a firmwide AI strategy built on signed agreements with Harvey and Legora.

Practice-Group Rollout and Custom Agents

According to Harvey, the adoption is intended to strengthen legal analysis and client counsel. Harvey said the teams have worked closely to embed its platform into everyday legal work at the firm through practice-group office hours, tailored workshops, and individual sessions with senior lawyers.

Harvey said lawyers at the firm have also developed custom agents for Knowledge Management, Capital Markets, and International Arbitration, alongside collaborative playbook building.

Miguel Zaldivar, CEO of Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, said in Harvey’s announcement: “Through Harvey, we’re perfecting the ways to capture and apply the expertise that exists across our firm on a variety of legal work. That has helped our lawyers work more effectively and strengthens the support and advice we provide to clients.”

John Haddock, Chief Business Officer at Harvey, said the firm has a clear vision for how Harvey can elevate its lawyers’ work and client service, adding that Harvey is proud to build alongside a firm with that ambition and to help shape what comes next.

Firmwide AI Strategy and Governance

On October 16, 2026, Hogan Lovells Cadwalader also unveiled what it described as a comprehensive firmwide AI strategy and a new AI governance structure combining market-leading platforms, proprietary client solutions, and dedicated commercial capabilities. The firm said the strategy will accelerate its business transformation and drive better solutions, service, and value for clients, and it announced it has signed agreements with Harvey and Legora.

“There is no single AI solution that will meet every need of a modern global law firm,” Zaldivar said in the firm’s strategy announcement. He said Harvey and Legora have been providing the firm’s lawyers with access to market-leading capabilities that enhance productivity and support client service across a wide range of legal tasks, while ELTEMATE will continue to develop proprietary tools, workflows, and client-facing solutions that reflect the firm’s unique expertise. He described the strategy as combining the best technology available with innovations the firm builds itself.

The firm’s new AI Board will evaluate ideas developed across its practice groups and sectors to assess opportunities to use AI to enhance the delivery of legal services. The board will decide whether solutions should be built internally or sourced externally, allocate resources accordingly, and oversee their development and deployment.

Paul Otto will become Managing Partner – Legal Technology and AI. Otto is a partner in the firm’s Global Regulatory practice, based in Washington, D.C., and advises major organizations on emerging technologies; the firm described him as a leading advisor on AI, cybersecurity, data, technology, and digital risk and as part of its Future of Digitalization core team. Oliver Campbell has been appointed Chief Transformation Officer. Campbell has been with the firm for six years, is a former capital markets lawyer, and has spent 15 years helping law firms modernize legal and business services.

Commercial Unit and the Combined Firm

The firm has also created a new Commercial Unit and named Bill Ferreira as Managing Partner – Commercial Unit and Client Delivery. According to the firm, the unit will focus on pricing, legal project management, pitching, and client delivery as the firm evolves its commercial approach and uses emerging technology, including AI, to create greater long-term value for clients. Ferreira is Practice Area Leader for the firm’s global Government Contracts & Higher Education practice and will continue in that role; he advises companies, universities, and hospitals on U.S. and international projects.

Zaldivar said the increased scale created by the firm’s merger enables it to invest in AI, technology, and innovation from a position of strength while remaining true to its partnership model and retaining full control of its strategic direction.

The Hogan Lovells–Cadwalader combination was approved by partner vote, announced on April 15, 2026, with the combined firm set to launch on July 1, 2026. That announcement said the combined firm would have approximately 3,100 lawyers across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, revenue of more than US$3.6 billion, and a presence in more than 18 countries. The release also noted that Cadwalader, the oldest law firm on Wall Street, has served clients for over 230 years, while Hogan Lovells has served clients in Washington, D.C. for more than 120 years, in London for more than 125 years, and in Germany for more than 135 years.
