Crusoe Commits AI Compute Credits to White House Genesis Mission – Unite.AI

Crusoe announced on October 8, 2026 a $50 million commitment in high-performance AI compute credits over three years to support the Genesis Mission Consortium, with Co-Founder and CEO Chase Lochmiller making the pledge at the White House Science: A New Golden Age Summit.

The contribution will provide capacity for high-performance compute and inference workloads through Crusoe Cloud, the company’s AI cloud platform, along with technical support for researchers across more than 15 federal agencies, including the Department of Energy, NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.

“AI-driven computation is fast becoming the foundational engine of modern scientific discovery,” Lochmiller said. He said the commitment places AI infrastructure directly in the hands of federal researchers working on national challenges in energy and health.

In its release, Crusoe describes the Genesis Mission, established by Executive Order 14363, as the administration’s flagship initiative to harness AI for scientific breakthroughs, and presents its pledge as supporting OSTP Director Michael Kratsios’s vision of modernizing U.S. science through public-private partnerships.

White House Details $2.4 Billion in Partner Commitments

A White House fact sheet published October 8, 2026 states that the administration announced $2.4 billion in super-intelligence-for-science tools and compute credits, a category the fact sheet labels SI, for the Genesis Mission Consortium from eleven industry partners. The support is directed at more than 15 federal agencies working toward National Science and Technology Challenges. According to the fact sheet, the commitments comprise $1 billion from NVIDIA, $500 million from AMD, $200 million from OpenAI, $150 million each from Anthropic and Google, $100 million each from AMP and Emerald AI, and $50 million each from AWS, Armada, Crusoe, and Micron.

The partner commitments follow the July 2026 expansion of the Genesis Mission to more than 15 federal agencies and a $5 billion federal commitment supporting the challenges across energy, health, space, and other areas, the fact sheet states. Across the summit as a whole, it says the initiatives represent more than $6 billion in investments spanning the federal government, industry, academia, and philanthropy.

The summit builds on Science: A New Golden Age, a report Kratsios authored for President Trump in response to a presidential directive to revitalize the American scientific enterprise, according to the fact sheet. “The efforts announced today will channel billions of dollars across our science ecosystem to realize the new scientific opportunities that now exist,” Kratsios said. The fact sheet also records a separate National Science Foundation and Department of Energy announcement of more than $100 million for SI-enabled scientific instrumentation and autonomous laboratories.

The Executive Order Behind the Mission

President Trump signed Executive Order 14363, “Launching the Genesis Mission,” on November 24, 2025, establishing the Mission as a coordinated national effort to accelerate the application of AI to scientific discovery focused on pressing national challenges. The order makes the Secretary of Energy responsible for implementing the Mission within the Department of Energy and assigns general leadership to the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, who coordinates participating agencies through the National Science and Technology Council.

The order directs the Secretary of Energy to establish and operate the American Science and Security Platform as the Mission’s infrastructure. The Platform is to provide, in an integrated manner, high-performance computing resources (including national laboratory supercomputers and secure cloud-based AI computing environments), AI agents and modeling frameworks, computational tools, domain-specific foundation models, secure access to appropriate datasets, and experimental and production tools for autonomous and AI-augmented experimentation and manufacturing.

The order set a sequence of deadlines. Within 60 days, the Secretary was to identify at least 20 science and technology challenges of national importance spanning advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, critical materials, nuclear fission and fusion energy, quantum information science, and semiconductors and microelectronics. Within 270 days of the order, the Secretary is to seek to demonstrate an initial operating capability of the Platform for at least one identified challenge. The order also requires annual reports to the President covering the Platform’s operational status, integration across national laboratories and federal research partners, user engagement, research outcomes, and the scope and results of public-private partnerships.

Crusoe’s National Compute Grid Role

Crusoe’s release states that the pledge builds on the company’s role as a launch partner for the newly unveiled National Compute Grid, which the company describes as a separate initiative aimed at pooling advanced AI infrastructure to expand public-sector and educational access for researchers nationwide. The Grid’s own site describes it as pooled infrastructure for the frontier research ecosystem and states that during its preview phase it is available only to public access partners. Access requires signing in with a .edu, .mil or .gov email address, and those who do not qualify can register for a waitlist.
