A new plant being built in the Corpus Christi, Texas region represents the largest single investment made by a Chinese company in an American manufacturing facility. Tianjin Pipe, through its American joint venture partner, invested more than $1-billion in the plant. Its all part of a building boom in Corpus Christ, and evidence of foreign investment finding home in the U.S. The area is one of the largest designated foreign trade zones in the U.S., but it is also benefiting from its close proximity to the Eagle Ford shale formation and cheap natural gas. There’s so much building that Corpus Christi is running out of space to bring in more development.
