A government shutdown has been averted. Just seven hours before federal agencies ran out of money, the House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a bill funding the federal government through Dec. 11th. Congressional Democrats and Republicans say they will begin working together on a longer term funding deal. Walmart (WMT) reportedly will cut hundreds of jobs at its Little Rock, Arkansas headquarters. Reuters says 500 jobs could be cut, which is a small percent of its 18,000 workers at headquarters. Twitter (TWTR) could be set to name its founder Jack Dorsey as CEO. Recode reports the announcement could come today. If Dorsey become Twitter’s CEO, he will be Chief Executive of two tech companies. He also oversees Square, a payment processing company. Challenger, Gray and Christmas issues its September job cut announcements today. The latest numbers on August Construction Spending are out. Markets in China are closed for the rest of the week.
