Columbia Sportswear’s acquisition of yoga brand prAna for 13 times Ebitda proves there is no better time than now to sell, with valuation multiples stretching into the double digits. Expect PE firms to unload other active lifestyle brands. One such possibility is American Recreation, a portfolio company of Sun Capital and includes outdoor brand Slumberjack, sources have said. In a similar vein, conglomerates will also shrink, as Calvin Klein parent PVH has said it could sell its heritage brands.
