The once-doomed casino outpost on the California-Nevada border will be back in the game Wednesday when Terrible’s reopens the Primm Valley Casino — just 17 days after taking control of the property.

The casino will welcome gamblers back at noon following “brief remarks” from Terrible’s executives and Corey Clemetson, the grandson of Primm founder Ernie Primm, according to an announcement shared with The California Post.

Hundreds of employees from Primm Valley Casino and across Terrible’s network have “worked around the clock” to revive the property since the company assumed management control July 5.

The casino will reopen with 422 gaming machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar and a 24-hour quick-bites restaurant.

Terrible’s is also scrapping resort fees and will match rewards tiers previously earned by returning customers.

New promotions and rewards will launch Wednesday for new and returning gamblers.

Several additional dining options are already in the works, including a coffee bar, a 24-hour casual cafe and a steakhouse, the company said.

The reopening completes a remarkable reversal for the tiny gambling town formerly known as State Line, which appeared destined to become a ghost town just months ago.

Affinity Gaming stunned employees and the Primm family in May by announcing plans to close the casino and remaining businesses it operated in the community.

The planned shutdown threatened more than 300 jobs and would have extinguished the last remnants of a once-thriving desert destination that served as generation’s of Southern Californians’ first taste of Nevada gambling.

Primm Valley Resort was the community’s last casino operating full-time. Buffalo Bill’s, home to the once-record-breaking Desperado rollercoaster, had been opening only for select events, while Whiskey Pete’s had already closed.

LV Petroleum initially emerged as a potential savior and told Nevada gaming regulators it wanted to revive the entire Interstate 15 exit.

The Primm family ultimately struck a deal with Terrible’s, the historic Southern Nevada company owned by the Herbst family, to take control of the surviving hotels and amenities.

Nevada regulators later granted Terrible’s temporary approval to operate the casino, clearing the way for the transition and preserving hundreds of jobs.

“We believe Primm’s best days are still ahead,” Terrible’s president Tim Herbst said when the partnership was announced in June.

Terrible’s has said its broader plans could include property renovations, improved traveler amenities, upgraded food and beverage offerings and infrastructure work.

For now, the reopening means the neon glow along Interstate 15 will survive — and Primm has been dealt another hand.
