The weekend was a roaring success for Universal Pictures as dinosaur movie ‘Jurassic World’ held its box office lead for a second weekend. The record breaking picture grossed $102 million at the U.S. box office, only the second ever movie to smash the $100 million mark in its second weekend. Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ took $103.1 million across its second weekend back in 2012. The monster release secured its place in the record books last weekend opening to $208.8 million domestically and $523.1 million worldwide. The movie is expected to surpass the $1 billion mark worldwide in the next few days. It was a battle of the blockbusters as Disney’s (DIS) new release ‘Inside Out’ beat estimates with its $91.1 million opening. Analyst had expected a $65 million debut. The Pixar movie is one of the few big hits of the summer that has introduced an entirely new story and set of characters.
