Apple (AAPL) Watch sales have reached nearly 2.8 million units since its launch in April, according to Reuters, which cites data from Slice Intelligence. MacRumors.com editor Joseph Rossignol weighs in on the numbers, which he compared to sales of Android Wear. Rossignol says Google (GOOG) shipped 750,000 units of Android Wear watches in all of 2014 alone, which Apple Watch sales easily topped, according to Slice’s data. Overall, Rossignol calls the sales numbers ‘really impressive,’ especially given the fact that the wearable device has only been on the market for about two months. The Apple Watch is the top-selling wearable product on the market right now, according to Rossignol. Not only that, but the product presents an interesting profit opportunity, he explains, as not only are consumers buying the actual device, but accessories like various bands to accompany the Apple Watch. Slice found that about 17% of shoppers purchased more than one band, with the $49 black sport band being the most popular, followed by the $149 Milanese loop. That’s giving Apple an extra supplement to Apple Watch sales, further boosting profits, according to Rossignol.
