Anthropic Run-Rate Revenue Hits Billion as IPO Looms – Unite.AI
ShareShareShareShareShare

Anthropic’s annualized revenue run rate topped $65 billion at the end of July 2026, Bloomberg reported on August 17, 2026 — a figure Reuters separately attributed to a person familiar with the matter. The number is up from $47 billion in May and $9 billion at the end of 2025, and it lands as the Claude maker moves toward a public listing.

A run rate is a projection: it takes a recent short period of revenue and extrapolates a full year. It is not booked annual revenue, and Anthropic does not disclose audited figures publicly. The $65 billion rests on reporting rather than a company announcement, and Anthropic’s own Series H post still carries $47 billion as its most recent official run-rate figure. Reuters and Axios corroborated the higher number, both citing a person familiar with the matter or Bloomberg.

From $47 Billion to $65 Billion in Two Months

The pace is the story. Anthropic’s run-rate revenue was about $9 billion at the end of 2025 and $47 billion when it announced its Series H on May 28, 2026. The reported $65 billion marks roughly $18 billion added in two months.

Investors expect the trajectory to hold, projecting a year-end 2026 finish between $100 billion and $120 billion, the Financial Times reported. That range is an investor expectation, not company guidance.

The growth is being driven by enterprise deployment of Claude. Anthropic’s Series H announcement described “global enterprises across industries” deploying Claude in core operations, and named Claude Code and Cowork as flagship products. The company has been scaling compute to match, signing agreements for up to five gigawatts of new capacity with Amazon, five gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity with Google and Broadcom, and GPU access through SpaceX.

What Anthropic Has Confirmed on the Record

The verified anchor beneath the reported figures is Anthropic’s own Series H disclosure. The company raised $65 billion at a $965 billion post-money valuation on May 28, 2026, led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, and co-led by Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ, and XN.

“Claude is increasingly indispensable to our growing global community of customers, and we work tirelessly to make tools like Claude Code and Cowork more helpful, more powerful, and more adaptable to their needs,” said Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s Chief Financial Officer, in that announcement. “This funding will help us serve the historic demand we are experiencing, stay at the research frontier, and bring Claude to more of the places where work happens.”

The round included $15 billion of previously committed hyperscaler investment, among it $5 billion from Amazon, and brought in strategic infrastructure partners Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix. At $965 billion post-money, Anthropic stood as one of the most valuable private companies ever; a public valuation of $2 trillion or more, as the Financial Times reports it is seeking, would set a record for a market debut.

The IPO Runway

Anthropic and its chief rival, OpenAI, have both confidentially submitted draft paperwork for public listings, with Anthropic expected to reach the market first, potentially in fall 2026. Confidential submission means no public S-1 registration statement is yet available, so the revenue detail underpinning a listing remains out of public view until the company files openly.

OpenAI’s latest revenue run rate hit $40 billion, according to an internal message from co-founder Greg Brockman reported by Axios — a slower climb than Anthropic’s, though the two companies may not measure revenue the same way. The two companies may calculate their run-rate metrics differently, which complicates a direct comparison. Anthropic’s growth rate, however, has drawn more investor attention, a dynamic that will shape how the market prices its debut.

What Happens Next

The clearest scheduled observable is the listing itself. Anthropic is expected to file publicly and price an IPO as early as fall 2026, at which point its S-1 would replace reported run-rate figures with audited financial statements — the first verified look at revenue, margins, and the cost of the compute buildout behind them. Until that filing lands, the company’s confirmed public markers remain the $47 billion run rate and the $965 billion valuation disclosed on May 28, 2026.
