Boeing (BA) and Airbus Group SE are poised to win at least 220 orders for competing narrow-body jets at the Paris Air Show, a haul of at least $23 billion, people briefed on the matter told Bloomberg. Already, this morning Indonesia’s Garuda airlines has announced a tentative order for 60 Boeing jets. The 787 will begin delivery to Garuda in 2020 while the 737 Max will hit the airline’s fleet two years later in 2022, Boeing said. Boeing also announced that Taiwan’s EVA Airways plans to buy 777 cargo jets with a list price value of more than $1.5 billion, though customers generally get discounts. Single-aisle models such as the 737 and A320 are the workhorses of the global airline industry, carrying about 75 percent of passengers.
