Accelya Debuts FLX Recover Agentic AI for Airline Passenger Recovery – Unite.AI
ShareShareShareShareShare

Airline software company Accelya on October 13, 2026 announced FLX Recover, an agentic AI-powered solution designed to help airlines assist disrupted passengers faster, more intelligently and at scale. It is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, powered by Accelya’s FLX AIViator intelligence layer, and was engineered with RapidScale, a provider of enterprise managed and professional services.

A Three-Party Engineering Effort

Accelya provides the airline intelligence and orchestration, AWS provides the cloud and agentic AI foundation, and RapidScale supplies the specialist engineering expertise to bring the solution into production at airline scale.

“Disruption is a critical moment in an airline’s relationship with its customers,” Sam Gilliland, CEO at Accelya, said in the announcement. “The challenge isn’t simply finding a recovery option; it’s making the right decision quickly and consistently across thousands of passenger circumstances, then carrying it through.”

RapidScale CEO Duane Barnes said agentic AI creates value when it delivers measurable business outcomes inside real-world operations. He said combining Accelya’s airline expertise with RapidScale’s engineering capabilities and AWS technology produced a secure, production-ready solution, and described the result as faster disruption recovery, reduced manual effort and more consistent passenger experiences, with the governance and control airlines need to operate at scale.

In a product video published on Accelya’s site the same day, the company said the three-way effort shifts from flagging disruption and suggesting responses to carrying out the recovery itself across a connected workflow, within policies and controls the airline sets. The video page describes FLX Recover as detecting disruption, assessing passenger impact and coordinating recovery actions while reducing manual work and letting staff concentrate on the work that requires human judgment.

How FLX Recover Works

According to Accelya’s FLX Recover product page, the system runs on specialized AI agents organized around a five-step loop. The Detect step spots and classifies disruption events as they happen. Assess determines the operational impact and what each passenger needs. Recover weighs the available options and coordinates the most suitable actions across systems. Communicate delivers personalized updates throughout the recovery. Learn records outcomes so that each one informs the next recovery decision.

According to Accelya, when a flight is delayed, cancelled or rescheduled, FLX Recover assesses the disruption’s impact, prioritizes passengers, and evaluates and coordinates actions across reaccommodation, passenger care, communications and downstream financial workflows. The company says a disrupted passenger may need more than another flight: there may be a connection to protect, baggage to reroute, a paid seat or meal to rebook, assistance to arrange or compensation owed. The agents weigh loyalty status, group and family travel, connections, ancillary purchases, special assistance requirements and compensation obligations, and work through every affected passenger in parallel rather than processing them in batches.

The airline sets the boundaries of that autonomy. Accelya states that each carrier defines the policies: some scenarios can run automatically, others can require human approval, and hard limits can be set that the agents never cross. Each action is logged under a single disruption ID and stays reviewable. The company contrasts this approach with traditional disruption tools, which it says identify issues or recommend recovery options, often in batches, while FLX Recover’s agents assess impact, reaccommodate passengers, coordinate communications and manage compensation within a single continuous workflow.

Accelya positions the product as taking FLX AIViator beyond insight-providing AI into agentic AI that both coordinates and executes complex airline workflows.

Integration, Availability and Success Measures

The product page states that FLX Recover is open and PSS-agnostic: it can run inside Accelya’s FLX ONE platform or connect to an airline’s existing passenger service systems, order management, CRM, communications and operational systems through open interfaces, using what Accelya calls its Modular Exchange Framework, with no major platform replacement required. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore supplies identity, observability and scalability for the AI agents, and the page identifies RapidScale as an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner.

Accelya says FLX Recover is available now directly from the company and will also be available through AWS Marketplace. A listing on AWS Marketplace already offers the product as software-as-a-service deployed on AWS, sold by Accelya and categorized under Cloud Operations, Customer Experience Personalization, and Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics. Pricing is contract-based: the listing shows a placeholder per-month figure and directs buyers to negotiate actual cost and terms through a private offer with Accelya.

Accelya lists typical success measures for the product, including time to impact assessment, time to recovery, manual intervention rate, recovery acceptance, cost per disrupted passenger, compensation exposure, ancillary value protected, post-disruption satisfaction and audit completeness.
