A self-driving taxi could be coming to a city near you. General Motors and Lyft will start experimenting with driverless Chevrolet Bolt cars over the next year, according a report from the Wall Street Journal on Thursday. The Bolt is an electric vehicle. The move comes after General Motors poured $500 million into Lyft earlier this year. The taxis will have a driver present in the vehicle to handle any unexpected glitches. GM will use technology from Cruise Automation, a company it’s in the process of acquiring for $1 billion, which makes self-driving software. TheStreet’s Scott Gamm reports from Wall Street.
