Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said neither her friend Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) opinion nor President Obama’s opinion will ultimately sway her fellow Senators when it comes to the Iran deal. In the end, they will decide for themselves. That said, McCaskill believes the President should not be demonizing Schumer for taking a principled and well-informed stand. ‘I wish he had not been quite as intense,’ said McCaskill, who is out supporting her new memoir Plenty Ladylike. ‘I don’t think people who are opposing the deal are warmongers. I think it’s a tough call and when a decision is a tough call there are really good arguments on both sides,’ said McCaskill. McCaskill added that she is still researching the issue. The worst result in her view would be for Iran to get the billions of dollars currently frozen released from the international community and still be racing towards a nuclear weapon. She said he is currently reaching out to each one of those countries to try and get a straight answer. Back in her home state of Missouri, the second term Senator said the unrest in Ferguson on the first anniversary of the Michael Brown shooting has been overstated by the press and the environment in truly improving. ‘We are making progress, but a few outliers, gunfire on the perimeter very late at night, after all the peaceful protestors had gone home and police responded to that and of course then I think to some extent it has gotten blown out of proportion,’ said McCaskill. As for the clamor coming from the current Presidential campaign, McCaskill said she would probably support Ohio Governor John Kasich if forced to choose the next Commander in Chief from the Republican side.
