China’s economy is slowing down. Gross Domestic Product expanded by 6.9%, according to China’s National Bureau of Statistics. The figure was better than the expected 6.7% but was the slowest since the financial crisis. Analysts say Beijing may make moves to stimulate growth. Aetna (AET) and Humana (HUM) shareholders are scheduled to vote at separate special meetings today in New York and Connecticut on the proposed $37 billion merger between the two health insurance companies. Both companies Board of Directors have voted to support the deal but shareholders must also sign off and are expected to approve it. Federal Regulators get the final say on whether the sale proceeds. Deutsche Bank (DB) says it will split its investment bank in two and overhaul its top management as the lender, Germany’s largest, tries to overcome legal problems and address criticism that it is inefficient. Several top executives will leave. Morgan Stanley (MS) and IBM (IBM) are among those reporting earnings today.
