Ticket sellers were feeling the force of the nation’s ‘Star Wars’ fans after Disney (DIS) debuted the latest ‘Star Wars’ trailer on ESPN Monday night. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, won’t hit screens until December but several ticket sites including Fandango and AMC theater chain (AMC) crashed due to the demand, with many screening locations already sold out. The seventh film in the series picks up three decades after the action of ‘Return of the Jedi’, which was released back in 1983. The trailer has evoked a social media frenzy with some critics now expecting the movie to challenge ‘Avatar’ (FOX) for record breaking box office numbers. Disney stock has seen impressive growth thanks to continued audience enthusiasm for familiar franchises.
