xAI Launches Grok Bot, Always-On AI Teammates With Their Own Cloud Computers – Unite.AI

xAI has launched Grok Bot, a beta product it describes as a team of always-on AI agents that get their own cloud computer, sign into a customer’s existing tools, and finish multi-step jobs without being supervised, the company announced on August 11, 2026. Access is bundled into three existing subscription tiers (SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium), and the app is available on desktop (a Linux build is posted) and iOS.

The launch extends xAI’s product line beyond models and chat into what the industry has taken to calling digital labor: agents that do knowledge work rather than draft it. For xAI, which has spent the past year shipping consumer-facing Grok products and a coding agent, Grok Bot is its first product sold explicitly as a workforce, and its distribution runs through a subscription stack that now spans two companies.

A Computer of Its Own

The core design decision separates Grok Bot from the workflow-builders that have defined most agent products so far. Bots share a computer of their own in the cloud and work inside the same apps, inboxes, and websites a human employee would, including platforms with no clean API or MCP integration, according to the announcement. Jobs continue when the user steps away or closes a laptop, and the Bot returns when something needs approval rather than asking for direction at every step.

Users message a Bot the way they would text a colleague, from desktop or iOS, and can teach it a workflow by having it watch the job done once; the Bot saves the steps as a routine and runs them on its own afterward. Bots retain context across conversations, learning preferences and edge cases over time, and multiple Bots can run in parallel, messaging each other, sharing threads, and coordinating in group chats where they pass work and assign ownership among themselves. xAI’s framing is a small team with a chief of staff on top, rather than a stack of automations the user has to manage.

xAI says the product began as an internal prototype that spread across the company, with teams building Bots for sales outbound, marketing campaigns, office operations, and bug fixes before the public release. In the announcement, a product team member identified as Roman described the difference from earlier AI tools this way: “There is a huge difference between 90% done and 100% done. Most AI gets you almost there. Grok Bot can finish the swing, because the work lands where a human would put it, in the actual tool.”

The Subscription Stack Behind It

The access list is the commercial story. Grok Bot is not sold standalone; it rides on three premium plans that were already in the market. On xAI’s product page, Cursor Ultra is priced at $200 per month and includes Grok Bot’s own computer, tool sign-ins, scheduled routines, desktop and mobile access, and extended AI token limits. Cursor Premium Teams runs $120 per seat per month and adds centralized billing, a team marketplace for skills and plugins, shared usage analytics, and SAML/OIDC single sign-on. Subscribers to SuperGrok Heavy, xAI’s own top tier, get Grok Bot included, and enterprise customers are being routed to a waitlist rather than given immediate access.

That structure puts an agent product inside subscriptions customers already pay for, which is a cheaper distribution path than selling seats from scratch. It also ties xAI’s agent strategy to Cursor’s: the download builds, onboarding flow, and sales contacts on xAI’s pages all run through Cursor infrastructure, making the two companies’ product stacks visibly interlocked at launch.

The announcement arrived the same week xAI shipped Grok Imagine Image 2.0, which reached a top arena ranking on August 8, 2026: a cadence of releases that has kept the company’s consumer and prosumer lines updating weekly while it builds out paid tiers above the free Grok products.

How xAI Says the Bots Are Being Used

xAI’s own teams provide the working examples. A sales outbound Bot researches accounts overnight, scores contacts for intent, drafts emails and LinkedIn messages in each seller’s voice, and leaves a queue of personalized drafts for approval. A demo-readiness Bot checks the environment overnight, fixes broken seeds and stale data in the product interface, and drops a checklist before morning calls. Other internal Bots keep CRM records and org charts clean, flag stalls and commit risk, update CRM notes from call transcripts, process invoices arriving in Gmail, seat new hires, and reproduce bugs in the product UI before filing tickets and handing fixes to a debugging Bot.

Each of those is a job that currently occupies an entry-level or operations hire, which is the market claim embedded in the product: that an agent with its own computer can hold a role, not just assist with a task. xAI is selling that claim to the same startup and team buyers who already pay for the subscriptions carrying Grok Bot, at price points ($120 to $200 per month or seat) that sit well below a loaded salary for the work described.

The near-term roadmap items are already public: the Android app is listed as coming soon on the download page, and enterprise access beyond the included tiers is gated on the waitlist now open through xAI’s sales channel.
