Hate to be the bearer of bad news – but as the weather gets chillier, life is going to get more expensive. And no, it’s not just because it’s PSL season.
Average U.S. heating bills are expected to jump 7.6% to nearly $1,000. If you heat with electricity, your bill could rise more than 10% to $1,205. Natural gas bills are also climbing, while propane and heating oil might see small drops.
The squeeze is real – about 1 in 6 households are already behind on utility bills, and total unpaid bills have shot up 31% since 2023. Federal help is shrinking too.
With bills rising, aid limited, and winter coming, staying warm is going to cost a lot more.
