Chiquita Brands International Inc. and Fyffes PLC of Ireland are likely to face a tough time with antitrust regulators on both sides of the Atlantic with their $1.07 billion plan to create the world’s new leading banana company. Concerns are likely to center on a four-to-three reduction in the number of top suppliers. If the deal ends up having to be notified in Ecuador, the companies may also need to make certain promises to get clearance.
