Three US service members were injured, one critically, during a nonmilitary operation on a Gaza pier on Thursday, according to a report.
The troops had been working to deliver humanitarian aid in Gaza, US Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, deputy commander of US Central Command told Reuters.
Two service members suffered a sprained ankle and a minor back injury.
Cooper declined to give details on the condition of the third American, who was taken to a local hospital.
However, a US defense official told Reuters military correspondent Phil Stewart that the service member was critically injured and was flown to an Israeli hospital.
The nature of the injury is yet not known.
The US Army built a floating pier off the coast of the Gaza Strip to help deliver aid to the Palestinian controlled territory.
