You and your loved ones won’t be the only ones celebrating this coming Valentine’s Day; the economy will be welcoming an anticipated $18.9 billion in revenue from money spent on boxes of chocolate, bouquets of flowers, and evenings out on the town. Cash will be flowing, but not everyone’s spending habits on February 14th are the same. Men typically shell out almost double what women do — an expected $190.53 compared to $96.58 in 2015. In addition, those between the ages of 25 and 34 will spend the most, $213.04, whereas adults ages 34 and above will spend progressively less. Finally, if you purchase your gifts online, beware — you’ll pay on average 40% more than if you head to the shops. Sophie Bearman reports from New York.
