CAROLINE WOODS: We’re less than a week into its release and the Switch 2 is already breaking records. Nintendo’s newest gaming system has already sold 3.5 million consoles. According to Nintendo, the company sold more Switch 2’s in its first four days on sale than any console in its history.
Of the hot start, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser said “We are thankful for their response and happy to see the fun they are already having with Nintendo Switch 2 as they explore new features and games that bring friends and family together in new ways.”
The Switch 2, which sells for $450, is Nintendo’s first major console release since the original Switch in 2017. To date, Nintendo has sold 152 million of those gaming systems. The Switch 2 comes with a bigger screen and bigger controllers than its predecessor. And, in most cases, it will be backward compatible with older games.
