It’s still a long way from overtaking AT&T and Verizon, but T-mobile did have another strong quarter of customer additions. Ahead of its earnings, its released preliminary figures for the fourth quarter on Wednesday and that makes it our chart of the day. In fact, it made strong strides in adding customers in 2014. T-Mobile has not been quiet about its strategy to steal customers from rival carriers. Its positioned itself in the market as the ‘Uncarrier,’ the contrarian in the market, eliminating monthly contracts, charging no additional costs for international data roaming. It’s also offered special deals that have undercut its competitors in terms of pricing. T-Mobile said that for 2014, the company added a total of 8.3 million customers, which is an 89 percent increase compared to the year prior. For the fourth quarter, T-Mobile added 2.1 million customers bringing its total subscriber base to more than 55 million. It ended the third quarter with 52.9 million subscribers. Could T Mobile overtake Sprint in 2015? Maybe. Sprint ended the third quarter of 2014 with 55 million customers. In the course of the last year, T-Mobile traded between 24.26 – 35.50. It closed near its highs at about 31 dollars a share in Wednesday’s session.
