Sesame Street finds a new home

Kelsey Barberio: Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?
After Max decided not to renew its contract with the classic children’s show last year, Sesame Street — which has entertained and educated families since 1969 —has found a new address in your Netflix queue.
Now, following long negotiations, Netflix will be releasing the series’ 56th season with ‘fresh format changes’ as well as 90 hours of classic episodes as part of a new distribution deal.
In a statement, Netflix called the show quote “the beloved cornerstone of children’s media, enchanting young minds and nurturing a love of learning.”
The new season will also be available on PBS for free the same day they air for Netflix — a shift from its previous model where the episodes were released on public television months after airing on Max.
This deal comes just a few weeks after President Trump signed an executive order that seeks to end federal funding for PBS and National Public Radio.
