Wall Street was set to kick off September on a downbeat note, as stock futures moved sharply lower on Tuesday after disappointing Chinese data roiled the global financial markets again. Chinese manufacturing data fell to a 3 year low. European Markets followed Asia lower. Two major public pension funds joined the effort for Bank of America (BAC) shareholders to oppose a corporate bylaw change that would let Brian Moynihan serve as both chief executive and chairman. California Public Employees’ Retirement System and California State Teachers’ Retirement System sent a letter to the bank Monday disclosing they will vote against the change, because they say now is not the time to reduce management oversight. Apple (AAPL) is reportedly talking to executives around Hollywood about producing entertainment content. Apple is interested in the production of shows for Apple TV. Variety, meanwhile, an unnamed, high level executives said Apple is aiming for long form content.
