Russia’s Vladimir Putin called the conflict in Ukraine a “common tragedy” but vowed to send more troops into battle. Speaking at a meeting with his top military brass, the leader says that what is happening in Ukraine is “not a result” of Russia’s policy, but rather policies of Western nations which are bent on toppling the former soviet state.
