Ford CEO Mark Fields says the new Lincoln Continental concept car will appeal to luxury buyers here in the U.S. and in China when it goes on sale in 2016. Ford, which launched the Lincoln nameplate in China last year, said the initial response that it’s getting from the Chinese consumer is very positive. Fields, speaking on the eve of the New York Auto Show, said that in the future, ‘our China business could be larger than our U.S. business.’ Ford, which sold roughly 100,000 Lincolns in 2014, expects to triple that number by 2020. Here in the U.S., Fields said Ford will start to see the full effect of its recent product launches translate to higher sales ‘toward the back-end of the second quarter and in the second half of the year.’ In Europe, Fields said the automaker is starting to see the market ‘improve moderately’ along with some ‘green shoots’ from lower oil prices and easing monetary policy.
