Strong gains in the tech sector pushed the Nasdaq to a record high. Amazon (AMZN) closed 3% higher after announcing it will make its Prime Day an annual event. The e-retailer sold nearly 400 items per second on Wednesday, its first Prime Day. That was 18% higher than Black Friday, 2014. Paint company Sherwin-Williams (SHW) dropped after slashing earnings forecasts for the year. Sherwin cited a stronger dollar and recent rainy weather as reasons for the revision. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen weighed the risks of raising rates too soon in day two of her testimony on Capitol Hill.
