Institutional options buyers made massive bets in the last week of February on shares of General Electric. Jim Cramer and TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino review the action as buyers initiated bullish positions in near-dated contracts and as far out as January 2017. Technically the chart confirmed the momentum in GE and options were priced cheap. Cramer says GE is most attractive because of the yield, especially in this low rate environment, as the company is known for returning cash to its shareholders. A key issue to be aware of is the drop in oil prices and GE’s exposure to it, putting CEO Jeff Immelt in another ‘prove it’ situation.
