TheStreet’s Jim Cramer explains the core differences between Macy’s and Bed Bath & Beyond. Macy’s has a terrific internet business that boosts its earnings while Bed Bath & Beyond has no internet strategy to speak of and instead relies on “couponing.” Despite decreased mall traffic Macy’s was able to beat earnings estimates, which Cramer attributes to their use of technology to reach consumers. On the flip side, Cramer says Bed Bath & Beyond had a “sketchy” conference call and he’s not quite sure where the problems lie. Jim Cramer says BBBY is a “shame” because the company has a great concept.
